Re: Pat Nash
Having seen Pat Nash in action, he is a class player and is a good signing for the Shots. Possibly not ready yet for NL as a first choice, but will develop and go on to great things I think. Disappointed that Alex doesn’t like him. He is entitled to his view, but I know he isn’t a great fan of Farnh...

Re: Ollie Harfield
Class player was Alan Wooler and a genuinely nice guy. Bumped into him one night in the Devils Punchbowl Hotel in Hindhead after he had played one Saturday. He had time to talk away from his group and even happily signed the programme I had for the day (think it was a game v Wigan).

Re: Var vote
Like the “Road to Hell”, VAR was paved with good intentions. However it slows down the game and very often it is interpreted in a far to pernickity way and frequently incorrectly, from what I have witnessed. Yes, officials get it wrong, but football is a game of chance and in although we can all thi...

Philippine Football League
Just got home (Philippine home NOT Hampshire one 😆) after watching Davao Aguilas beat Stallion Laguna 1-0 in the Philippine Football League tonight. A 2 x hour journey into Manila took almost 4 x hours with the traffic and we got into our Rizal Stadium seats literally as the game kicked off at 19:00...

Re: Premier League and National League in talks over new cup competition featuring under-21 sides
Thanks for the advice. I just can’t see how a well established and if properly run (and that is where perhaps the problem lays in HOW it is run) competition like the FA Cup cannot make the money. What guarantees are there to say this new competition is going to any greater providing of funding for c...

Sorry, I didn’t make myself clear, but 3 of the names quoted (with the seemed context of improving our National side) were not English.

Re: Premier League and National League in talks over new cup competition featuring under-21 sides
We could call this competition the Watney’s or Texaco Cup. I really cannot see what on Earth is trying to be achieved here and it just makes me angrier that deep down we are radically changing (sacrificing?) the oldest Cup competition for something as stupid and pointless as this? What is being ach...

Re: Premier League and National League in talks over new cup competition featuring under-21 sides
So if scrapping FA Cup replays was seemingly proposed to ease fixture congestion and then someone thinks about introducing a new competition? Where on earth does that logic fit in? Am I missing something?
