Southend Utd have been dancing with the devil for years with reference to their existence. The devil looks after his own and of course Southend may make all of us safe come 19:30.

TW will lead out shots at Wembley as tbh he deserves this opportunity.

After that irrespective of the result or contracts discussions have to take place as to whether he should lead us next season.

If we have to pay him to leave then I can’t see that as an option.

D&R now 5-0 so a 9 goal swing (so far). We lose and they win on the last day then it’s all about whether Wealdstone can conjure something up in their last two.

Why does he deserve the opportunity?

We’ll have more chance of winning if he doesn’t!

But if, as rumoured, he has a rolling contract it will be the same every year. We just have to take the hit…

What rumour?

We’re delighted to confirm that First-Team Manager Tommy Widdrington has signed a contract extension!

Widdrington has put pen to paper to extend his stay with the Shots until the summer of 2026 as his first full season as Aldershot Town Manager has now finished.

Having joined with six games remaining of the 22/23 campaign, three wins and three draws under Widdrington guided the Shots to safety after being in a relegation battle all season.

The 23/24 season quickly saw any threat of the drop exchanged for a playoff battle as a dramatic upturn in home form from the last few years helped guide Aldershot to finish in eighth, just one spot outside of the playoffs.

Widdrington also led his Shots side to the Third Round of the FA Cup with almost 5000 Shots travelling to the Hawthorns as they took on West Bromwich Albion after famous victories over League Two sides Swindon Town and Stockport County.

You can hear from the Gaffer as he reflects on the 23/24 season, discusses his new deal, and looks ahead to next season by clicking HERE

Season tickets for the 24/25 season are now available to purchase and you can guarantee your place at every home game for just £13.91 per game (adult ticket)! Click HERE for more information and to renew!
