For some reason I thought runners up below the national leagues got automatic promotion but obviously notBelgrade Shot wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 8:26 amLike the National League?Peter macdonald wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 8:03 am Bit of a strange league where the runners up don’t go up automatically

Torquay must be absolutely pig sick to finish second on GD shortly after beating the champions away from home

Frimley Green FC were founded in 1919 by a group of survivors from the Great War. My grandfather was their leading goal scorer and is pictured here (Ascot League Div 2 winners in their first season)Mick Earls Fan Club wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 6:37 pmFrimley looked as if they were going to batter them first 15 minutes but couldn't scorelowerbourneshot wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 6:26 pm Great win for East cowes on pens at Frimley .up the vics
ECV scored early second half
A number of scrambles near the end saw FG go close and the equaliser came direct from a corner by sub Adam Mekki in added time
FG produced an Aldershot Town level on the penalties losing 1-4

I offered the club some reproductions of photos held in my collection many years ago but didn’t get a reply!

Indeed. They were head to head with Chester that season I think and just lost out. They were a really good side-won 9-0 away at D&R if I remember right. To date we haven't had any occassion to gripe about the P/O's (ie by finishing a clear 2nd, beating all the other P/O sides home and away just to lose to a flukey goal against one of them) and have done ok -Imagine if we'd beaten Carlisle after they'd walked all over us in the league game at the rec?!-they'd have ben as wild as the Wolves fans in 87!Peter macdonald wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 10:28 amIndeed Ian, remember Hereford pipping us by 21 points 21 years agolowerbourneshot wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 10:01 amPlay offs for youPeter macdonald wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 8:43 am Torquay must be absolutely pig sick to finish second on GD shortly after beating the champions away from home

Yes Hereford won 9-0 at daggers on a Friday night if I remember correctly and I think they were better than Chester despite the fact the table doesn’t lie as we’re being told, a home loss against the lowly Leigh RMI cost them dearly I would say
Re: This weekend’s playoff fixtures
True, but if the Isthmian League was structured with playoffs like it is now, i think we would have (a) had some great playoff games, and (b) made it out quicker than we did.hepcat wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 1:42 pmIndeed. Was that Carlisle in the P/O circa '04? Very spicy outside the ground that day

Stones through . I hope/think they will beat Boreham Wood.

Scunthorpe v Chester in the NLN final. Maidstone v Borehamwood in the NLS final.
Any preferences as to who you’d like to see promoted?
