What a day!

First half was dire, second half had a pre-season feel but great goals. What a crowd and atmosphere (only blighted by some flares).

Top organisation with the coaches - think we’re facing a long journey home with traffic - and what a day for the town/club/community.

Did Jack say in his on-pitch interview he wants to stay but it’s a great way to sign off if that’s not the case?

Guess we’ll find out who is staying and going on Tuesday. Let’s celebrate tonight and tomorrow night on the open top bus parade. Just hope the predicted thunderstorms stay away.

God does this make up for that loss against our Surrey neighbours.
Lets see if that rather nice chap who supports them comes on here to see if he can " get a bite".
Have Woking ever been in the football league ?
I am so happy.

I think your missing the point of the first half was to move the ball around and tire them out, second half we played a faster more open game and it was a perfectly planned game plan that worked well. As winners it was never in doubt as soon as we scored it was game over.

Fair point, but they had two very good chances that we should have been punished for. Can only remember Barrett’s shot from our side?

Only on the Aldershot Town forum can we find some that are still not happy after we've won the bloody Trophy 🙄
and Richard Walden puts the Shots 1-0 up against Man Utd

Absolutely bossed it. Controlled game and the class really showed on the good pitch. Spennymoor will be disappointed I think, men against boys really.

Every side you play against will create chances it's how you deal with them that counts, the scoreboard still says 3-0

Aldershot Town scored three second-half goals as they beat Spennymoor Town 3-0 to win the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium.

Jack Barham opened the scoring early in the second half, bundling the ball home after a cross by James Henry from the right-hand side.

With 20 minutes remaining, manager Tommy Widdrington's side doubled their lead, Dan Ellison glancing the ball into the net from a corner kick.

Josh Barrett then wrapped up the game with a stunning strike on the volley from outside the box.

The Shots fans that made the trip to Wembley travelled in great numbers, and with over 18,000 tickets sold they packed out their allocated quarter of the ground.

Before the match, their supporters were bouncing as the players made their way to the pitch, a sea of red and blue throwing balloons and streamers into the air.

It was the National League side's Wembley debut after they beat Woking 2-1 to progress to the final, while Spennymoor, of the National League North, reached the final after beating Rochdale on penalties.

Despite being smaller in number, the Spennymoor supporters still made a decent noise, with a big group of their fans packed into a section behind the goal as well as further along the stand.

It was Aldershot who had the first real chance, a cross was whipped in from the right and forward Barham's glancing header sailed just wide of the far post.

After 20 minutes Spennymoor had a brilliant chance to take the lead. Finley Shrimpton burst down the right and charged into the box, laying the ball off to Rob Ramshaw, but his weak attempt fell right into the grasp of Aldershot keeper Marcus Dewhurst.

The Shots then went up the other end and Barrett forced a tremendous save from Brad James as the Spennymoor keeper palmed away a dangerous curling effort.

Early in the second half, Aldershot found the breakthrough that they were looking for when Barrett produced a beautiful touch to send Henry down the right.

His cross found Barham waiting at the far post and he helped the ball over the line before standing on the advertising boards in front of him, hands raised to the delighted Shots fans.

That lead was then doubled with 20 minutes remaining as Barrett sent in an inswinging corner and Ellison was there to nod it home.

In the final moments Aldershot's Barrett produced a moment to remember with a stunning third goal. After the ball bounced, he smashed it into the top corner with his left foot to seal victory.

I thought that song was awful and cringe!

Very solid professional performance from ALL of our lads today. We defended well as a team and scored three good goals. I was worried at the time of the first incident just after kick off though. Maybe a different referee would’ve sent off Theo for a stupid attempt at an assault, again.

Just two negatives for me -

1) a drunk guy close to where I was sitting had to be ejected for being aggressive and trying to start a fight with another Shots follower.

2) All bars and refreshments on the concourse close to my block inside the stadium were closed after around 60-65 minutes of the match. Why?

Well done to everyone involved and congratulations.

Will now be interesting to see how many of the current players stay and leave…

What a day!

Agree with the perceived tactics of passing them to death in the first half. Would love to see the stats on the number of passes we completed especially in first half. Wasn’t perfect by a long way but we did a very good job on Spennymoor considering they went toe to toe with Rochdale.

What a performance from all the lads - those three defenders of ours have been superb. What a day for them. I thought Theo and Dejan played very well too. Thank you for the save in the first half Marcus!! That should have been a goal.
