I WAS OVERWHELMED AT WEMBLEY

Post by Terry Owens »

I would like to thank all those "Shots Supporters" that stopped me while I was walking up Wembley Way/Olympic Way to have a chat and sometimes I was
overwhelmed when they were all thanking me for the start up of ATFC 1992, I was not expecting that, most of them also asked to have a photo taken
with me, which again I was not expecting.

I was so proud to be associated with the Wembley visit by those "Shots Supporters". It then continued whilst I was walking round the stadium to take my
seat and I was very pleased that I bought a £30-00 ticket to sit with the "Shots Supporters" ( the club did offer me a very nice complimentary upgrade
seat) and again the supporters made me most welcome when I sat alongside my son Sefton and grandson Thomas : : : When hearing those 18,000 " Shots
Supporters" singing the National Anthem I shed a tear as it was a very emotional moment for me.

What a fantastic day, along with the superb 3-0 win . . . . I am so very proud to be a "Shots Supporter" for the last 68 years. I hope I can make it 70 years
In 2027.

I now end this heartfelt write-up with another "Big Thank You"

Ha, Ha . . . . I was 10 years old at my first Shots game, so I am giving my age away now, as I am 78 years young.

Terry

If anyone deserves a "thank you" it's you, Graham and the others involved 1992 who kept football in the town. Without that initiative then, Sunday wouldn't have happened. As a supporter since 1978, Wembley was something that I never thought would happen. Thank you

By coincidence I was ten at my first match, at 78 I think you have many more years ahead of you and I hope to be able to raise a glass to you for your 100 birthday.

I am so glad that you enjoyed your day at Wembley with your family - you deserve it. I spoke to you and your wife some months ago at a Military Veterans meeting. What you have done and continue to do at the club is incredible. Well done you. Must watch one of your performances at Knellwood in the near future too!

Hello Stenhouse I am singing at the "Knellwood War Memorial Care Home" on the 15th June (Fathers Day) with a 2-30pm start. I hope you can make it.

I had a very good year in 2024 with 86 singing engagements at various places of interest. So far this year I have already accepted another 56 bookings so
another good year so far with more to come : : : : Tongue in cheek I would have loved to sing the National Anthem at Wembley prior to the Shots Kick
Off : : What a moment that would have been ha ha.

It's was a very emotional day, myself and gentleman next to me both shed a tear when the 3rd goal went in, we'd never met, our eyes met and I just said "I get it" he was with a lady and I imagine his young grand daughter. We spoke about my dad who can no longer attend games, he was in block 142 row 25 and would have been seat 247, whoever you are, it was an honour to share the win with you.

When I got home, the first question my Wife asked was 'Did they Win?'. The second was 'did you see Terry and Rak?'

A Wembley win wasn't one of your targets in 1992 Terry and nobody would have believed you had it been!

What a testimony it is to all those that have stood by the belief that Aldershot Town deserves a place on the map of football.

Thanks Sir Terry!
